The purpose of asana, at least for me, has always been to prepare my body for sitting meditation. I find that if I don’t move around, I cannot sit still. At the beginning of my yoga journey, I started with Kundalini Yoga, and eventually ended up practising Hatha and Vinyasa… Only recently I have come to accept and understand that stillness can also be found in movement. I have always been a bit ‘lazy’ and didn’t enjoy sports or physical activity. But practising asana, and moving through the postures guided only by my breath and intuition has opened up a new layer in my mind, another opportunity to grow and learn. That’s why I practise asana. Why do you do it? Have you found this to be true for you too? I’m curiuos.
